Aviad Arik Herman has been selected to design the National Costume for Miss Universe Germany 2014 Josefin Donat.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, as well as the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Israel and Germany.
“The idea of combining the concepts of culture, forgiveness, tolerance, liberation, and with excitement and glamour, are all elements that we hope to convey on the international stage. It is our hope that German people all over the world will be moved by the costume and proud of Josefin, as well as Aviad.” – Kim Kötter, National Director for Miss Universe Germany & Miss Netherlands.
The costume incorporates a two-dimensional story, beginning with a commemoration marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, as well as the unification of Germany. There are elements of the Brandenburger Gate, the city of Berlin Skyline, U-Bahn, Berlin’s flag & the iconic teddy bear. 8 balloons represent the 8,000 illuminated ones during the anniversary celebration in Berlin.
The costume was created in collaboration with Painter Artist Eyal Assulin & Graphic Designer Haim Rephael Azoulay
Deep gratitude goes to John Paul Hamilton, Kim Kötter & The Miss Universe Germany Organisation for the great honour
